Viking Shields

The shield is an iconic symbol of the vikings called a “Rond” and typically 3 feet across. They were used by warriors as a defensive and offensive weapon made of pine or spruce planks covered in hide and painted in clan colours. An opening was cut in the center of the shield and shaped wooden handle installed. To protect the hand, a forged dome called a Boss, was nailed to the front.
